“We had a shipment of 3,000 DVDs in our living room two weeks ago,” Burning Angel founder and performer Joanna Angel told XBiz. “We’re selling them all over New York.”
"Burning Angel: The Movie" is not available in stores. It can be purchased online for $20 or in the Williamsburg, New York or Manhattan area where Burning Angel associates are selling copies themselves.
“We thought about getting [traditional] distribution,” Angel said, “but we made this thing ourselves, so we’ve been giving the DVDs to friends who will sell them and keep a couple of bucks from each one.”
The DVD was made for around $3,500,” Angel told XBiz. "Although it’s our first one and we don’t have anything to compare it to."
Angel admits to making every mistake she could possibly make in the DVD’s creation, from under-booking time in a pay-per-hour motel to getting a merchant account just before the movie went on sale.
But the experience has made the company eager to release more titles, including the upcoming June release of the "Re-Penetrator," a horror spoof, and "The XXXorcist."
“We don’t want to be like other companies and release a title a week,” Angel said, echoing alternative adult director Eon McKai, “because this is important to us.”
