Carmen Hart Lands 'Serious Role' in Mainstream Film

LOS ANGELES — Wicked Pictures contract star Carmen Hart has landed what she calls a "big cameo role" in "The One Eyed Monster," an upcoming mainstream horror spoof starring Ron Jeremy and several Hollywood actors, including Amber Benson of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and character actor Charles Napier.

Hart told XBIZ that the writers of this film, Adam and James Fields, are following the successful lead of indie box-office smash "Napoleon Dynamite" — they plan to submit their independently funded film to the Sundance Film Festival where they hope its popularity will explode.

"I really believe it has a good chance," Hart said. "The stuff I've seen so far has been hilarious."

Hart's fellow actors include Jeff Denton and Napier, who has played characters in a slew of productions, including "Star Trek: The Original Series" and "The Blues Brothers." The film currently is in postproduction.

Hart said her role is more than the superficial type that adult stars often are given, and stressed that she wasn't just given the role because of who she is.

"I actually had to act and audition," Hart said. "It wasn't just the typical role where you're playing a stripper with your clothes off — it's a real part, a big cameo role. There's a lot of attention put toward [my] part of the movie."

Hart said that the Fields wrote the screenplay and saved it until they had a budget big enough to make it a reality. The most she could describe about the plot is that it starts innocently, but then turns into a horror film "where everybody starts dying."

She added that her role in "The One Eyed Monster" will help show that many adult actresses actually can act and will open doors for better, more serious roles in the future.

"It's always a positive thing when someone from this industry can do something to better the reputation of how people perceive our careers and the adult business period," Hart said. "It's better when someone from the adult industry can be in a mainstream movie and not portray adult or be a stripper or prostitute — it will only get better from here."
