The movie is being released in two collector’s editions: the standard-definition version comes in a special extended, double-length O-card package and the HD DVD release includes the standard-def discs for a total of four DVDs.
According to Zero Tolerance representative Dom B, the company discussed entering the HD DVD market when “Girlvana 3” was being shot in January. Blu-ray was not part of the discussion, he said.
“‘Girlvana’ is a signature title for the company, so we knew early on that this release was something we wanted to feature not only in high-definition, but on HD DVD discs,” Dom B told XBIZ. “We plan on doing a few releases on HD DVD per year until it becomes the standard format.”
“Girlvana 3” was directed by Mike Quasar and stars Kellemarie, Cassie Young, Nikki Benz, Holly Morgan, Lena Nicole, Abbey Brooks, Annette Schwarz, Puma Swede, Riley Evans, Stephanie Swift, Francesca Le’, Amber Rayne, Mikayla, Franchezca Valentina, Tory Lane, Rebeca Linares, Regan Reese, Audrey Bitoni and Zoe Britton.
Dom B said that the authoring and replication expenses were “considerably higher” for HD DVD than standard definition. He said that Zero Tolerance has been filming in hi-def for a while and that it was a natural progression to move to HD DVD. Now he hopes that consumer demand catches up with the technology curve.
“We’re really hoping for a big response from consumers who want this technology,” Dom B said. “If the retailers get requests for more HD DVDs we’re going to make more, but for now, we’re sticking to our signature releases.”
The company’s next foray into the HD DVD market is the mid-September release of “Dreamgirlz” through Zero Tolerance sister studio Third Degree.
Also directed by Quasar, the movie features Bree Olson, Jenna Haze, Carmen Luvana, Courtney Cummz, Maya Hills and Katja Kassin.
Adam & Eve contract star Luvana was on loan to make "Dreamgirlz" for Third Degree in a deal between the two studios after Zero Tolerance contract girl Cummz was allowed to shoot “Eden” for Adam & Eve.
