Mondo Video A-Go-Go Closing Its Doors

LOS ANGELES — Legendary video store and adult production location Mondo Video A-Go-Go is closing after 20 years in business.

"It's going out of business; no more retail for Mondo Video A-Go-Go," proprietor Colonel Rob told XBIZ. "Everybody's going to be here Sunday for a press conference. There will be decorum, but anything goes. Ask anything you want and I will answer them honestly.

"I'm talking about 20 years of history, including my relationship with Russ Meyer. I'm like an octopus. The best way to do it is the press conference. It's like a whirlwind right now."

The store has been a haven for lovers of obscure films and videos for 20 years, populated by a colorful collection of characters on both sides of the counter. Several adult videos have been shot there, including some "Midnight Prowl" sequences where performers would do scenes with customers who happened to be in the store at the time.

Mondo Video A-Go-Go is located at 4328 Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles.
