Adult DVD Empire Breaks Sales Records

WARRENDALE, Pa. – Adult DVD Empire, two-time winner of the AVN Award for Best Retail Website, has announced improvements in its overall stocking habits that allowed the company to maintain an average of 82% of items in stock throughout 2004.

Through aggressive purchasing and state of the art inventory management, that percentage has already increased significantly, rising to 95% of adult DVDs in-stock. This high in-stock percentage has led to record sales in the first quarter of 2005.

"In e-commerce, and more specifically adult video e-tailing, if the product is out of stock, it's far less likely to sell compared to an in-stock product," said Mike Barry, director of adult operations for Adult DVD Empire. "We decided that if we were going to list a product for sale, we should have it in stock - period."

In March, Adult DVD Empire experienced record sales due, in part, to the high percentage of items in stock. "We've already seen the positive effects of our 100% in stock goal," said JT Smith, director of marketing for Adult DVD Empire. "In March, we broke our one-month sales record and are on track to do even better in April. This is a direct result of our commitment to stocking the titles we carry. More titles available for purchase translates into more orders – and when the product is in stock, those orders ship out immediately."

"We also ran a sponsorship on the Howard Stern Show at the end of March which obviously added to our sales lift," added Smith.

"The overall goal is complete customer satisfaction," said Jeff Rix, founder of Adult DVD Empire. "After looking around the marketplace, we noticed that most other online retailers either have real-time stock status with a high level of out of stock titles or they have no real-time stock status with a poor selection of products. So we figured that the most effective way to bolster customer satisfaction would be to increase our overall stock so the majority of the products we offer for sale are in stock – all the time – and ready to ship out immediately to our customer."
