Sunshine DVD, Odyssey Group Debut 'Shane & Friends'

VAN NUYS, Calif. — Video-on-demand website SunshineDVD.com has added a store feature so users can either view content in a pay-per-view format or purchase DVDs from Sunshine Films, the site’s parent company.

Primarily known for their compilation DVDs, Sunshine has decided to roll out original content from their catalog and repackage it for DVD sales. Exclusive footage includes some original Seymore Butts titles, as well as early video of Butts working with his then-girlfriend Shane, founder of Shane’s World. Other titles that will be re-released on DVD include All Good Video’s “Shut Up and Blow Me” and “Submissive Little Sluts.”

Sunshine Films also is resurrecting the Odyssey Studios imprint with their new Odyssey Group Video lines. With the trend toward online distribution, OGV’s Bob East said that the company decided to release content on DVD simply because of the amount of classic footage they had in their library.

“We’ve got the content, let’s put it that way. We’ve got 10,000 titles on the site that we sell wholesale,” East told XBIZ. “It was just that people were going to the site and asking, can we purchase these films as well, but we didn’t set it up for purchase at the time, so now we’re announcing that we’ve done that.”

Two new series that will premier under OGV will be “Shane and Friends.” Volume 1 is set to release on Sept. 18, marking the return of Shane to performing after a long hiatus.

“Shane and I are friends, so I’ve got her back in production and she shot a new two-part movie for OGV at Lake Mead [in Nevada] recently,” East said.

The second line, called OGV Latina, will produce a series of videos shot in Latin America.

“OGV Latina is a medium-priced line, shot in South America, and will be a combination of boy/girl and some transsexual,” he said.
