Lucas Entertainment's President to Speak at Yale University

NEW YORK, NY – Michael Lucas, president of gay porn production company Lucas Entertainment, has been invited to speak today in the scholarly halls of Yale University, XBiz has learned.

Lucas was invited by the GaYalies campus group, part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Cooperative, as the guest speaker for the "The Master's Tea." He will discuss his experiences in the adult entertainment industry.

According to Yale Professor William H. Sledge, The Master's Tea is a program that features someone notable who has done something of relevance and interests to students.

Sledge added that Lucas was chosen to speak to the LGBT Cooperative because of his advocacy on issues related to substance abuse and safe sex practices.

Sledge called it, "A message that we feel is very important for youth of today."

Lucas has been a vocal opponent of barebacking in gay adult films, and in 2004 he took out a full-age ad in The Advocate encouraging safer practices for the gay community.

A leading figure in the gay porn industry since 1998, Lucas directs, produces and stars in his own films under the Lucas Entertainment banner, which includes the Auditions collection, the Fire Island Cruising collection, the International collection and the Manhattan collection. Lucas also oversees self-distribution line Lucas Distribution, which launched in 2004.

Lucas will appear at the New Haven, Connecticut-based Yale University at 4p.m. at the Calhoun College residential hall. The talk will include a question-and-answer period.

"I am honored to be invited to Yale to speak about these issues," Lucas said. "That a prestigious institution such as Yale recognizes them for discussion is a testament to how important and critical they are in this community right now."
