Playboy TV, Claxson Launch LifeStyle TV in Latin America

LOS ANGELES — Playboy TV International and Claxson Interactive have announced a Sept. 30 multiplatform launch for their LifeStyle TV channel, a non-erotic channel focusing on "the best in entertainment, food, fashion, sports and technology." Claxson provides and distributes entertainment content to Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking audiences around the world on TV, radio and on the Internet.

The channel will be available through traditional cable TV and video-on-demand, plus the Internet and mobile phones, throughout Latin America after the Sept. 30 launch.

"LifeStyle TV is innovative and unique: it is the first lifestyle channel in Latin America. It is also the first non-erotic channel launched by Playboy, and the first channel to be launched on multiple platforms," said Mariano Varela, Claxson's Pay TV Executive Vice President and General Manager of Playboy TV Latin America and Iberia.

"It is cool, sexy and trendy, not only in terms of content but also because of the multiple technological platforms through which it will reach urban Latin American men and women looking for the best in entertainment, fun and fashion."

An agreement with Digital Latin America will enable its users to access LifeStyle TV programming via video-on-demand, and the LifeStyle channel will be available on pay TV platforms throughout Latin America, including Telecable Tricom and Aster in the Dominican Republic, Asotel and Red Servitel in Venezuela, CTV in Panama, Sefuva in El Salvador and Cable Vista in Colombia.

The new network also will be accessible to cellphone costumers of America Movil through its 15 Latin America operations: Subscribers can receive "Lifestyle Tips" via SMS, download ringtones, pictures and video clips of various lifestyle-related topics, and watch the new channel on mobile TV mode.

Episodes of selected programs will be available for download from the channel's website, viewable on any media player including PCs and iPods.

Exclusive content formatted for the Internet will be available at LifeStyleTV.tv and video websites including YouTube and MixPlay.
