“It’s the only airless pump of it’s kind made for a mainstream lubricant,” BBL founder Eyal Feldman told XBIZ. “The other company that makes pumps like this is ID, but only for their flavored lubricants and they’re only 1.75 ounces. Mine are 5 ounces and they look beautiful. They’re the cleanest applicators I’ve seen.”
Coinciding with the new container design, Feldman also has posted two new instructional videos on the company’s websites, BoyButter.com and LuckyLubes.com. Following the success of Boy Butter videos that appeared on YouTube.com in August, Feldman decided to shoot new infomercials in high-definition, with a product endorsement for Lucky Lube from a female gynecologist.
Feldman said that the formula for Lucky Lubricant is the same as the water-based You’ll Never Know It’s Not Boy Butter, but that the Lucky packaging design appeals to the mainstream female market.
He also has received positive response from OB/GYN clinics, where he is introducing Lucky Lubricant as an alternative to higher-priced, prescription lubricants.
“I’m pushing Lucky like a drug, where I’m sampling out gynecologist’s offices all over the country. That’s what I’ve been doing and, naturally, it’s been doing very well. Gynecologists will see upwards of 20 to 30 patients a day. I’m getting a lot of positive response from the OB/GYN community,” Feldman said.
This Sunday, Feldman will debut Boy Butter Extreme/Black Label at San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair, where he will host a Boy Butter booth. The Black Label brand contains 7.5 percent Benzocaine, the maximum amount of desensitizing agent allowed on the market.
“When we first launched the original Boy Butter into the gay fetish community, it was well-received, but I’ve always been getting feedback from them saying that the packaging wasn’t masculine enough and that they wanted me to ‘butch it up,’ if you will,” Feldman said. “And maybe something with a little numbing agent because a lot of them are using toys or whatever they’re doing. So, that’s doing very well.”
Never one to miss a promotional opportunity, Boy Butter also was featured as a product tie-in, in gay producer Michael Lucas’ latest release, “The Intern,” where tubs of Boy Butter are stacked on a shelf in several bathroom scenes.
“Michael and I are friends and we’ve known each other for years. I’m actually in the movie in a cameo appearance,” Feldman said. “I’m in the scene where the actors go into to audition for Michael Lucas and he looks them up and down — I’m the tallest one there and I’m wearing a Boy Butter shirt.”
