Kevin Blatt to Appear On ‘Montel’

NEW YORK — Adult industry publicist and marketer Kevin Blatt will appear on “Montel,” hosted by Montel Williams, on Oct. 1. Blatt currently is on a publicity tour for the release of “American Cannibal,” a documentary in which he stars.

Blatt is being flown to New York tomorrow to tape the segment. He said Lindsay Lohan’s father, Michael Lohan, also would appear on the show.

“I’m pretty sure Montel wants to talk about celebrity sex tapes,” Blatt told XBIZ. “In addition to that, I’ll be appearing along with the producers of ‘American Cannibal’ to talk about reality TV.”

Blatt is no stranger to the celebrity sex tape world. He was the marketing guru behind Red Light District’s “1 Night in Paris” and has been involved in the (unreleased) sex tapes of Cameron Diaz and Colin Farrell.

“The movie came out on Sept. 11 and the response has been phenomenal,” Blatt said. “My appearance on ‘Montel’ is part of a big public push to get people to see the movie.”

In their documentary, producers Perry Grebin and Michael Nigro set out to answer this question: How far can a reality TV show push its contestants?

“American Cannibal” features exclusive on-set access and interviews with TV industry insiders, critics and reality-TV veterans. The documentary peeks through the looking glass of TV to discover the human cost of popular entertainment.

Among the more prominent names discussing the rising impact and influence of reality programming are New York Post TV critic Linda Stasi, “The Real World” creator Jon Murray, “The Daily Show” co-creator Lizz Winstead, Syracuse University professor of media studies Bob Thompson and reality show contestant Trishelle Canatella.

“American Cannibal” was the featured DVD on MySpace this week and Blatt said Showtime will broadcast the documentary in January. Blatt’s face is prominently featured on the DVD boxcover.
