With an open bar, libation combined with sensation as Spice Studios showed trailers from several of their upcoming releases on-screen and projected onto the wall above the heads of partygoers in the main room.
“We’re really happy with the turnout,” Spice Studios’ publicity director Matt Kalinowski told XBIZ. “Everyone is having a great time, and we’re showing off our latest titles, and I think it really represents the direction that Spice is heading toward. We have a lot of new directors and we’re giving them a lot of freedom.”
One of those directors, Tim Sabo, watched the trailer for his new Spice title “Rock Suckers.”
“They don’t know how to handle my stuff,” Sabo said. “What I do is like stylized gonzo. All sex, no dialogue, just music — it’s like a 90-minute music video with hardcore sex. I did the first swirlie that Spice has ever done.”
Asked how he got away with it, Sabo said, “I just didn’t tell them, and then — oops! There it is.”
Most of the titles being showcased had an edgier, alt, hardcore feel to them, including Zenova Braeden’s “The Taunting,” Devinn Lane’s “Spinners,” “Soaking Wet Perversions,” “Sex Cult Scenesters,” “Asian Spanking Sorority Girls” and Axel Braun’s new comedy parody “Fugly Betties.”
House dancers performed on stages throughout the club’s multilevel setup, with some serious lap-dancing going on in curtained hideaway spots, away from the partying crowd.
On the upper level, Déjà Vu contract performer Sunny Lane and performer Flower Tucci danced with “Spunk’d” director Justin Kane. The new Déjà Vu girl said that she had just completed a photo shoot for the gentlemen’s club chain that day, for photos that will be used in print and billboard advertising.
Punk princess Joanna Angel also made the upstairs scene, and told XBIZ that she is shopping around a project for her latest trailer, titled “Evil Head,” which she will be showing at several events over Halloween.
Many industry members made the scene last night, including award-winning director Jules Jordan, Vivid-Alt founder Eon McKai, bloggers Gram Ponante and Luke Ford, renowned photographer Holly Randall, classic director Roy Karch, performer Mr. Marcus, Sugar DVD’s Shari B., publicist Sue Procko, well-known photographer and Adam & Eve director Bob Coulter, as well as Spice big-wigs Bob Johnson and Dan Smith.
Performer/director Kimberly Kane lit up the room and said she was looking forward to the Halloween launch party of her new Vivid-Alt title “Triple Ecstasy.”
Shane’s World star Casey Parker was on hand and said that she’s just driven up from San Diego and away from the terrible wildfires that had been raging all week. Parker said that she had spent some time volunteering for the Red Cross earlier in the week.
Performers and constant couple Tommy Pistol and Gia Paloma also were on hand.
Other industry folk in attendance were Page Morgan, Chasey Lain, Daphne Rosen, Ryder Skye, Diane Devoe, Jaelyn Rose, Nicole Harris and Shauna Lenne and Dane Cross.
