In the past, VCX produced many iconic, old school features, including “The Devil in Miss Jones,” “Debbie Does Dallas” and “Taboo.”
“It’s very exciting. It’s the start of a brand new project for Dave and for me,” Karch said of VCX President David Sutton.
“VCX hadn’t been doing anything for awhile as far as new releases, so they called on me, one of the original guys — in fact, I did a couple of movies for Rudy, [David's] father, back in the day when they first were operational,” Karch said.
The new titles will be story-driven, scripted, with high production values and shot on high-definition, Karch told XBIZ. The first movie, which is as yet unnamed, is scheduled to start shooting next week. So far, the deal will produce at least six titles.
Plans to start the new project have been on the drawing board since summer.
“The first time we talked about it was at the XBIZ Summer Forum. We sat down in his cabana at the Hard Rock, so XBIZ was where the seed got planted and now it’s just met fruition,” Karch said. “Dave is a very serious businessman about the whole business. He gets it. He gets the Internet and distribution in a big way, and I understand the production part and so together it’s going to be a very strong team for ’08 and on into the future.”
"It's time to reinvigorate the company and produce new classics for the enjoyment of our fans,” Sutton said. “Our movies are known for production values, attention to details and skillfully crafted story lines. All those factors are integral to each title's sex scenes, cast with the top talent in the business, and will be carried over to our new movies.”
