SEXTOY.com Revamps, Relaunches

LOS ANGELES — Online adult wholesaler/retailer SEXTOY.com, a division of Convergence Inc., has been relaunched with an updated design, streamlined navigation, added content and lower prices, all in an effort to create broader market appeal.

The revamp marks the first extensive overhaul in the site’s 13-year history.

The new site design was based on marketing research, according to Convergence President Dave Levine, resulting in significant price reductions across the board.

"We did a thorough market analysis and comparisons on several shopping sites in order to come up with ideas for the upgrade. We listened to our customers and affiliates for their ideas on how we could improve their experience," Levine said.

"One of the most significant changes included lowering prices 10-15 percent across the board. This price cut comes as several competitors and manufacturers are raising prices," Levine said. "Our business model allows us to operate more efficiently than most of our competition. Our philosophy has always been to use that advantage to offer some of the best prices for adult products on the Internet."

The new look of the site was designed to appeal to a broader market, with “softer” products on the front page, as well as improved tabs and graphic images for easier, customer-friendly navigation.

Consumers will find also that educational pages have been added to each item category, in order to assist with their buying decisions.

"We always had thousands of items available in our database. And we offer several ways to search for those items, but we never used to have an answer for the customer who told us, 'just tell me what to buy.' So now we have several pages that suggest items based on what the customer is looking for," Levine said.

In addition, links have been added to every page so that customers can access customer service, purchasing and privacy policies.

According to Levine, beta testing indicates increased traffic and conversions for SEXTOY.com affiliate retailers.

The site’s affiliate program, SexToySex.com, offers affiliates the ability to set up customized online adult retail sites. The program offers 30 percent payout on sex toys and 20 percent on DVDs.

Affiliates can also set up video-on-demand and webcam services through the program, and Convergence Inc. operates its own VOD and live cam theatres through SexToyTV.com and SexToyTVlive.com.

And at SexToyClub.com, wholesale products can be drop-shipped to home party planners, as well as other member retailers.
