FSC Issues Annual Report

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — The Free Speech Coalition has issued its annual State-of-the-Industry Report 2007-08 intended to provide an overview of the adult entertainment business for industry members, media and the public.

FSC Executive Director Diane Duke told XBIZ that the 2007-08 report serves dual purposes both internal and external — to provide an overview of the industry its members and to provide those outside of the industry, including the media, with some “bullet points” regarding numerous facets of the business.

“Our goal with this report is to go a little more in-depth than past reports; it’s a comprehensive state-of-the-industry report, an overview of the business,” Duke told XBIZ. “Its intended for everyone in the business to read — from webmasters to retailers.”

The 22-page report written by Scott Ross includes sections on the size of the adult industry, digital media delivery, adult novelties, distribution, employment, adult performers, protecting child welfare and 2257.

Duke said that one of FSC’s primary goals in compiling this year’s edition of the report was to provide information and “a way of talking about the industry” specifically to the mainstream media. She touted this section as the highlight of the report because of a lot misconceptions about the adult business put out by the mainstream press.

“This report is a great tool to use for talking points for the mainstream media and it’s also something we can hand to politicians on Capitol Hill with facts and figures pertaining to our business,” Duke said. “This report is a wonderful opportunity for us to get the truth out about the industry.”

The report was mailed out to all FSC members and will be available on the organization’s website by the end of the week.
