“We are very lucky to have her,” AMA president Joe Laughlin told XBiz. Laughlin signed Thorn to the one-year exclusive contract Thursday, and said the Hawaiian-born performer, who has appeared in about 150 titles, will make her directing debut with the company.
AMA Content provides original galleries and movies for affiliates, as well as hosted galleries in partnership with studios and photographers. While AMA has released original DVDs before, the planned Thorn projects come with higher expectations.
“We had ‘TNT Babes,’” Laughlin said, “but that didn’t do too well and we ended up only not losing money [rather than making it] in Europe. Then AMA released ‘Juicy Cream Pies’ and that did better.
Thorn’s contract includes 10 films, excluding directing duties on two lines that will be released under her own imprint. Her first DVD performance for AMA will be “Swallow Your Pride,” with Hollie Stevens and Renee Pornero, to hit shelves early in June.
Thorn approached AMA with the idea to direct.
“She said, ‘I can’t spend my life making money on my back,’” Laughlin said.
The company gives Thorn ownership of her titles.
