XRCO Recognizes Mainstream Impact

LOS ANGELES – The 21st X-Rated Critics’ Organization Awards will be held tomorrow night at the Century Club in Century City. The evening will feature a new category honoring the personality who has best represented porn to the mainstream media.

The event, presented for members of the adult business and claiming to be the industry’s only “non-biased” awards, was first held in 1985 and tallied the votes of critics from New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. With the addition of critics from more cities, including the XRCO’s first German member, the awards have broadened their input from years past.

Jenna Jameson will be inducted into XRCO’s Hall of Fame and is also a nominee for several awards, including the Mainstream category, for which Ron Jeremy, Seymore Butts, Paris Hilton and Howard Stern are also in the running.

The awards will be co-hosted by KSEXRadio program director and Porn Star Karaoke host Wankus and performer Taylor Wane. The choice of Wankus as co-host elicited some controversy this year, due to his sometimes-combative KSEX persona. “I do it with love,” he told XBiz, various “inconsequential” feuds with other members of the adult business notwithstanding.

“It’s going to be a fun night out with a lot of respect for people who have worked hard all year long,” Wankus maintained, noting that various event organizers have been calling him to make sure he wouldn’t “destroy the industry” at the show.

XRCO co-founder William Margold will induct Jameson into the Hall of Fame and promises a video segment “unlike any you have ever seen.”

Along with standards like Best Movie and Best Performer, other categories include Teen Cream Dream, Superslut and Orgasmic Analist.
