Bezeq's chief executive officer said at a news conference the company had invested $500,000 on the new "Kosher phone line" service, which has been approved by Israel's leading rabbis and will be offered free — initially.
The service is available to all Bezeq subscribers although the main market will be Israel's ultra-Orthodox, who typically live in their own communities and refrain from many secular activities. A Bezeq representative said that 90 percent of Israel's ultra-Orthodox — a rapidly-growing sector that is influential with the government — use Bezeq's services.
Mobile phone operators in Israel currently offer similar services.
