VCA Teams With Burning Angel

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – In a concerted move to corner the “altporn” market, VCA has partnered with Burningangel.com to release the movie "Joanna's Angels."

Burning Angel's Joanna Angel founded the company in April 2002 with roommate Mitch Fontaine while attending Rutgers University.

The site has been called a "hardcore Suicide Girls-like site" that features blogs, photo spreads and models message boards. But the content is more explicit.

“Joanna’s Angels” will feature Angel as a crime-stopping supervixen in charge of a crack team of heroine/starlets, all culled from the Burning Angel website. The cast includes Kylee Angel, Sabrina Angel, Pinky Angel and Katrina Kraven, whom Joanna describes as “my favorite real porn girl.”

Following the success of the VCA-produced “Kill Girl Kill” by Eon McKai, VCA began what McKai described as a mentor program for altporn companies. First on the list was Burning Angel.

“VCA gave me a budget bigger than anything I’d shot with before,” Angel told XBiz, “and I can call [VCA Creative Director] Christina Peters or Eon McKai 55,000 times a day with questions.”

Angel said she will earn a directing and performance fee but will not keep any percentage of the movie’s sales, which she said is standard for most companies.

The deal, however, is an attractive one, she said.

“Burning Angel’s girls get more exposure and we learn to improve as movie makers,” Angel said.

The company will continue producing Internet content and its own films, such as the H.P. Lovecraft spoof “Re-Penetrator” and “Burning Angel.com: The Movie,” but she is confident that “Joanna’s Angels,” which is shooting this week and set to release in September, will pave the way for similar co-productions with VCA in the future.

“'Burning Angel.com: The Movie' sold 600 copies from our own site, which is good,” Angel said, “but since its just off the site, it can't get tracked anywhere, so it's kind of like it never happened. But we are very excited to team with VCA for its distribution.”
