Private Partners With GDB for IPTV

BRIGHTON, U.K. — IPTV provider Global Digital Broadcast (GDB) has announced the addition of Private Media Group to its list of adult studios. The partnership will allow Private’s further expansion into the European IPTV market with GDB’s PlayTV network and GoTV online portal in the U.K.

“The U.K. is a key IPTV market for Private and is part of our aggressive new media growth strategy which has already seen us achieve 100 percent penetration in the French and German IPTV markets,” Private COO Peter Cohen said.

“We have compelling positioning on GDBTV’s adult platform, which guarantees us large amounts of traffic and incremental revenue potential,” Cohen said. “This is a great deal for both parties.”

Launched in 2005, GBD offers mainstream and adult content in IPTV format with the PlayTV set-top box in the U.K., as well as other IP networks in U.S., the Philippines and Russia.

Since last year, GBD has contracted with several adult producers to create a “Top Twenty Triple-X” list of adult programming channels.

Private-branded content will be available on PlayTV’s Channel 901 in the U.K.

Publicly traded Private has been the leading producer of adult content in Europe for more than 30 years, and brings a library of more than 1,000 exclusive titles from several lines including Private Blockbusters; Private Tropical; Private Gold; Private Fetish; Private Lesbian; Private X-treme; and Private Specials, among others.

“Private has always been one step ahead, in both quality of content and style and its ongoing, expansive success,” GDB co-founder and Managing Director Jim Deans said. “IPTV is a must-have medium for a brand of Private’s stature and Private is a must-have brand for IPTV.
