The analysis was written by FSC board member and First Amendment Lawyers Association National Chairperson Reed Lee and was distributed to Coalition members May 20, the day after the decision.
“I asked Reed to write an analysis of the opinion for our members because it is difficult for people without law degrees to decipher court opinions,” said Diane Duke, FSC Executive Director. “Our responsibility, as the industry’s trade association, is to provide information that our members need to make sound business decisions.”
The analysis gives background and explains the case that the Supreme Court considered. It also describes the Supreme Court's decision and how it will impact producers and distributors of adult material.
The FSC, with the First Amendment Lawyers Association, filed an amicus brief in the case, which was cited in the court's majority decision and the dissent.
The analysis will be posted on the FSC website later today.
