The famous — or infamous — Nevada brothel, known for hosting such celebrities as Vince Neil and Jesse Ventura, has been cashing in on the economic downturn with a series of promotions aimed at helping cash-strapped travelers afford their services.
This time the promotion takes aim at President Bush's economic stimulus program, which gives taxpayers a stipend of up to $600 depending on their income level and tax burden.
The first 100 customers who bring their stimulus check to the Bunny Ranch will receive a "matching" contribution from the ranch toward their stay, effectively doubling the amount of the check — as long as they spend it at the ranch, of course.
"The Bunny Ranch encourages our clients to spend their check at the ranch, because we always give our customers the most bang for the buck," Bunny Ranch owner Dennis Hof said. "We are putting a big Thank You Card in the parlor for all our clients to sign that cash their federal stimulus check here."
Hof also plans to ask the lucky first 100 to sign a giant thank you card for President Bush.
Before this, the ranch's most recent promotion exploited new airline policies that charge passengers for carry-on luggage. The Ranch gave customers a $15 rebate if they produced a receipt confirming that they had paid the luggage fee.
That promotion continues alongside the stimulus check offer.
"As long as the airlines keep sticking it to the consumer, we feel obligated to help," Hof said. "And we won't ask what's in your luggage, even though the girls may be curious. We're all about helping the little guy — so to speak."
