CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Video-hosting website Pornotube.com celebrated its two-year anniversary with a virtual makeover.
Along with changes to the site interface, users can view bigger thumbnails and search the site with a newly placed top navigation bar. The company said daily member sign-ups have tripled since the facelift.
"At first, I thought it was a mistake," Suzann Knudsen, site administrator for Pornotube said. "But I double-checked, and it was true – the site was getting three times the new users in one day. It was amazing."
The Pornotube model has inspired a number of competitors since its inception in 2006. It has garnered media attention from TechCrunch.com and VH1’s “Best Week Ever Blog.” Partnerships with Teravision, Hustler, Titan Media, Smash Pictures and Private Media have added to the site’s popularity.
"When Pornotube launched two years ago, it not only established the ‘tube’ site model for the adult industry, it excelled at it," Knudsen said. "The Pornotube system created a way for everyone in the industry to profit, from stars to studios to affiliate programs. Pornotube supplied the adult industry with a new way to expose content to consumers that sits on the cutting edge of what the Internet revolution means."
