Opera Delivers Mobile Web

LOS ANGELES — Opera Software has released the first public version of Opera Mobile 9.5 beta, which the company calls "a powerful foreshadowing of what is to come" — by taking mobile browsing speed and features to a new level.

Opera Mobile 9.5 is the latest version of Opera Mini, and is claimed to be the most standards compliant browser available — a result of the company's commitment to making the web accessible for all.

The new browser defaults to the page overview mode, allowing the user to view an entire page and thus instantly recognize the website.

Panning and zooming options enable users to focus on specific content, while the sleek user interface provides easier navigation.

"Our fans have been eager for the release of Opera Mobile 9.5 since it first appeared at the Mobile World Congress this year," Jon von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera Software, said. "We are now answering the call of the people and delivering what we proudly proclaim to be our best Opera Mobile browser to date. It is a totally new user experience."

Opera Mobile 9.5 meets the needs of cross-platform developers by including several features that enable easier development on the mobile platform. For example, Opera Dragonfly allows developers to debug JavaScript, inspect Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and the Document Object Model (DOM), and view any errors, making development for the mobile phone even easier than before.

Opera Mobile 9.5 is also faster than its predecessors, offering improved performance as well as the ability to save pages and/or images to mobile devices with a single click.
