"This is a tremendous opportunity to use empirical research methods to finally understand how people respond to sexual imagery in media and their effects on family relations, sexual perceptions, crime rates, and other related psychological and sociological factors," Pounder said.
In his decision to retire from performing, Pounder hinted at the importance of relationships and intimacy in leading a full life.
"You can mess around and have fun in your 20s, but show me one person involved in production of adult content that has a secure, healthy, intimate relationship," Pounder said. "If you remain in production beyond a certain age, you are pretty much ruling out any prospect for a real relationship."
Pounder also plans to obtain a Ph.D. minor in Human Sexuality from the Kinsey Institute for Sex Research, based at Indiana University.
Pounder holds a Masters degree in Information Management from the Arizona State University College of Business and a Bachelors degree in Finance from Michigan State University. Prior to entering the adult industry, he worked for General Electric in the GE Capital Leadership Development Program and for WFS Financial as a risk analyst in their data warehouse group.
