SpecPubs Relaunched as Unzipped Media

LOS ANGELES — Gay adult magazines Men, Freshmen and Unzipped, formerly grouped under the Specialty Publications umbrella, have been relaunched as Unzipped Media. Parent company Regent Media recently acquired the brands from PlanetOut Inc. and has launched a publicity tour to tout the reorganization.

Unzipped Media and here! Networks will partner on the 10-city tour. Fleshjack.com and NakedSword.com will serve as co-presenters, while MaleDVD.net and Squirt.org have been announced as tour sponsors.

Cast members of here! Networks drama series “The Lair” will be featured on select tour dates. They are currently profiled in the October issue of “Unzipped.”

“We could not be more excited to bring the best and most recognized titles in the gay adult industry into the Regent Media family,” said group publisher Dustin Tyner.

“Additionally, partnering with here! and the sexy men of ‘The Lair’ seemed a natural way to debut the new Unzipped Media.”

Like Unzipped Media, here! Networks is a Regent Media property.

“The Lair” costars Colton Ford, Johnny Hazzard and Dylan Vox will anchor select tour dates beginning October 3 in Chicago. Additional cities include Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.

Unzipped Media was founded in Los Angeles in 1984 in its original incarnation. The magazines are available via subscription and newsstand sales.

The six-year-old here! Networks is a subscription-based network available on all major U.S. cable systems that offers a variety of programming designed to appeal to the LGBT community.
