The full-page ad in Sunday's Washington Post read: "Can you provide documented evidence of illicit sexual or intimate relations with a Congressperson, Senator or other prominent officeholder? Larry Flynt and Hustler Magazine will pay you up to $1 million if we choose to publish your verified story and use your material. Call our hotline, 1-800-251-2714, or e-mail us at hustler@lfp.com."
In October 1998, a similar ad ran during the Monica Lewinsky scandal that led to the impeachment of President Clinton.
In December 1998, Rep. Bob Livingston, R-La., admitted he had extramarital affairs and announced his resignation from the House of Representatives after word got out that Flynt was investigating him. Livingston had been expected to become speaker of the House after the resignation of Newt Gingrich.
Representatives for Larry Flynt were unavailable at press time.
