Freddy and Eddy Taps XBIZ for LoveLA Expo

LOS ANGELES — Freddy & Eddy, in conjunction with Stockroom.com, Babeland and Pleasure Chest, have tapped XBIZ as official media sponsor of the couples-friendly LoveLA expo scheduled Jan. 27.

Freddy & Eddy co-owner Ian Denchasy said that he looks forward to working with XBIZ to create LoveLA, the first show to bring all things erotic under one roof for an event meant to quench the appetite of the sexually curious, the sensually in-tune and everyone in-between.

"XBIZ is the most logical choice to help with LoveLA, as they bring a new and fresh perspective to the industry," Denchasy said. "Their vision matches exactly with mine."

XBIZ Novelty Editor Anne Winter said she couldn't be more happy that XBIZ is a part of such an innovative and groundbreaking project and is preparing for an exciting next few months.

"When Ian first approached us with the idea, we knew immediately XBIZ had to be involved in a big way," Winter said. "LoveLA is exactly what this industry needs — we're bringing sexy back to consumer shows and giving people a real reason to come."

Denchasy said he has compiled a strong list of 30 adult companies to represent their high-end products and boutiques in ways they've never been able to before — offering them the chance to design their own show booths, which will be dotted throughout Hollywood, Calif., hot-spots Boulevard 3 and the Social Hollywood ballroom.

Denchasy said that among the companies he has in mind are adult toy manufacturers The Screaming O, Funfactory, Sportsheets, Bonk Designs, Gear Essentials, Good Clean Love, Devine Toys, Lelo, Aneros and adult product manufacturers Shunga, Pjur, Pleasure Wipes and Sliquid.

Though Denchasy has a solid group of participants, he said that it is subject to change, and any other companies interested in participating should email him at freddy@freddyandeddy.com.

Both Stockroom.com and Babeland have taken charge to develop and finalize a series of hour-long educational seminars focusing on subjects ranging from sex toy 101 to bondage and anal play how-tos. The seminars will take place throughout the day-long event.

The seminars will be first-come, first-serve to attendees and will be hosted by a variety of industry figures, including Denchasy and his wife, Alicia, who host similar classes in their couples-friendly Venice, Calif., boutique.

"Babeland is interested in having the best educators for each of the workshops that are being offered," Babeland Education/Marketing Coordinator Kristen Tribby told XBIZ.

Denchasy also said that several specialty performances are scheduled throughout the day, including an interactive burlesque act and fashion shows featuring lingerie and Stockroom.com latex and leather couture.

Denchasy also has tapped local mainstream news publication LA Weekly to cover the show and offer its mainstream marketing and advertising expertise and in return, the event will showcase the publications' revamped Little Black Book, an adult-related directory similar to the restaurant industry's Zagat Guide.

The Screaming O Vice President Keith Caggiano told XBIZ that LoveLA will fill a major need for people to get information, products and ideas about sex and feel comfortable doing it, and that the show has major potential for future growth.

"The majority of people have sex, but the majority of people may be turned off by a lot of the hardcore elements that tend to go into a [traditional adult] show," Caggiano said. "I think LoveLA has the potential to become a trendsetter in the way that sexuality is being represented both at tradeshows and in other types of media."

Stockroom.com Marketing Director Allain Rochel told XBIZ that the Denchasys' reputation is superb and the two always have brought an innovative, creative and dynamic approach to outreach and sex-ed.

"Stockroom.com is thrilled to be included in creating a qualitatively different erotic trade show for the public," Rochel said.

LoveLA is a one-day event scheduled Jan. 27 at Boulevard 3 in Hollywood, Calif. Tickets soon will be available at the show's website for $25 each, or $40 per pair. The event will culminate with a two-hour VIP business-to-business social with food, drinks and good times.
