Justice Howard, Jim Koch Exhibit at Meltdown Comics

LOS ANGELES — World-renowned photographer Justice Howard and hipster-punk designer Jim Koch come together for an exhibition called “Toys Kill,” to be held at Meltdown Comics located at 7522 Sunset Blvd., in Los Angeles.

“Its’ gonna be rockin’,” Howard told XBIZ. “I’ve known Jim for a long time. We’re both artists. And I’ve been doing this for so long, it gets boring doing shows on your own, so when he came to me and wanted to do it, I thought it was a great idea.” Admission to the show is free, but proceeds from the sales of Howard’s photography will benefit Children of the Night, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping underage runaways and children who are victims of street prostitution.

At the exhibition, Howard will display prints from her series “Muses,” and Koch will debut his latest toy, the Gosha Doll by Super Rad Toys.

Howard, whose work has appeared in Maxim, Blender, Cosmo, Details, Jane, Playboy, Revolver, Easy Rider and Newsweek, to name a few, started her career as a fetish photographer but has since evolved into themes of female empowerment and sexuality conveyed through the use of creative formats ranging from pin-up photography to movie posters to staged crime scene photos.

She also has photographed numerous adult and mainstream celebrities including Janine Lindemuller, Brittany Andrews, Michelle Aston, Marilyn Mansion, Siegfried and Roy, Dave Navarro, Waylon Jennings, Billy Idol, Dick Dale, Blue Man Groups and ‘50s sex symbol Mamie Van Doren.

Howard recently shot a photo layout for actress Sybil Danning (“Grindhouse,” “Halloween”) and is scheduled to photograph iconic adult performer Seka this Saturday.

Seka will be an honored guest at this weekend’s Los Angeles Erotica Film Fest ’07.

Koch’s toy work has been described as “wicked and whimsical.” He combines the styles of contemporary subcultures in his work with poster art and also his art toys. His work can be seen on action sports apparel, rock posters, stickers, skate decks and even carney knockdown dolls.

The evening will include burlesque entertainment and music provided by a DJ.

The event starts at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6, with a special VIP showing between 5-7 p.m.

The exhibition will be on display between Oct. 6-31.
