WIA Profile: Naughty Laura

What is your role and responsibility at Naughty America?

I am the executive producer, which means I am responsible for all of the content from start to finish — pre-production, production and postproduction. I start with the casting, scheduling, and have my hands in everything that is created right down to the finished product in editing.

I want to continue creating content that is friendly for both men and women and expand on our female customer base.

What are your personal and professional goals for 2009?

Professionally, I would like to further my learning of what men are looking for online. I want to continue creating content that is friendly for both men and women and expand on our female customer base. Understanding what Americans want in their adult entertainment is an ever-changing adventure and keeping my finger on the pulse of what is hot is my goal. Personally, I want to complete my goal of visiting every continent and go to Australia.

Describe a typical Monday at your desk.

This starts with a double espresso and a visit to our message boards. I live and breathe by my CrackBerry so emails are answered 24/7. I might have a meeting with the executives, accounting, HR, or the other department heads. I might be watching content, sifting through hi-res photos or working with an editor on a video or trailer. I might be talking to an agency about a booking or sending texts. We shoot some fun cheeky stuff in our offices that doesn't involve people taking their clothes off, so I might pop my head in there and see how things are going.

What is the biggest challenge to being a woman in the adult entertainment industry?

Honestly, I find that being a woman in this business is an advantage. When it comes to female performers it's very easy for me to make them feel comfortable about working for us because we would never ask them to do something that we don't do in our own personal lives. When dealing with the other people in the industry I think being male or female makes no difference as long as you are professional and treat people the way you would want to be treated. People recognize that I am not a pushover and treat me with the same respect as anyone else. Likewise, if someone is shady or does something without considering the consequences, I will speak my mind.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I love seeing a project through from start to finish. I love being challenged and asked to produce something fun, new and innovative. Our website is more than just porn, it's a community and a lifestyle and I am proud to be a part of it. When people come to Naughty America, they are looking for content that best represents their fantasies and it's fun creating different scenarios for people to enjoy. It is also a great feeling working for a company that really takes care of its employees and the performers who work for us.

How do you maintain balance in your life?

I try not to take business calls after 6 p.m. and on weekends. I try to go to bed early on weeknights, hit the gym for some cardio almost everyday, and really focus on not getting too worked up about the things I cannot control. Oh, and Friday Happy Hour is a must!
