WIA Profile: Giana Taylor

What is your background, professional and/or otherwise?

Well I wear many hats. Most people know me from being founder of the Urban X Awards as well as being a director in the industry. I’m a mainstream/nude model as well as a reality star.

Being a woman is a challenge in itself. Men seem to think they rule the world so when they see a strong woman with power it’s hard for them to adapt.

What was your inspiration to create the Urban X Awards?

I wanted people of color to have a show that was for them. I got tired of hearing people complain about putting in so much hard work and not being rewarded for it.

Describe a “typical work day” for yourself?

My days are all over the place, I don’t have a typical work day. I’m just always grinding looking for new projects to work on. Producing reality shows and always planning to make the Urban X Awards bigger and better each year.

What is the biggest challenge with being a woman in the adult business?

Being a woman is a challenge in itself. Men seem to think they rule the world so when they see a strong woman with power it’s hard for them to adapt. We as women are still treated as a minority in most aspects of the game just as colored people are treated. However I feel that in every industry women have a lot more opportunity to succeed now a days then we had in the past.

What is the most rewarding aspect of producing the Urban X show?

The most rewarding aspect of the Urban X Awards is making it bigger and better every year and seeing people have a great time smiling and happy to be a part of the show.

How do you maintain balance in your life?

Wow that’s the question of the day. I’m still learning how to balance being a wife, mom, director, founder, model, producer and reality star — it’s a whole lot to balance at times and that’s one thing I’m trying to still master. …Just wanted to add we are having the first annual Urban X Expo in Atlanta in March 2011 and the 4th annual Urban X Awards in July 2011.
