Sony Debuts MHS-FS3 Bloggie 3D Camcorder

So you want to experience 3D video production for yourself, but do not want to break the bank doing it? Sony has a solution for you, with the release of its innovative pocketsize Bloggie 3D camcorder.

According to the company, the device focuses on affordability and fashion-forward style, to provide high quality MP4 video and still photos, as well as easy web sharing capabilities — but it is its ability to record and playback 3D images for under $250 that is causing a stir among video shooters on a budget.

The MHS-FS3 Bloggie 3D camera offers full high definition (1920x1080) MP4 video and 5-megapixel still photos, capturing images with two lenses.

The MHS-FS3 Bloggie 3D camera offers full high definition (1920x1080) MP4 video and 5-megapixel still photos, capturing images with two lenses, two image sensors, a stereo microphone and builtin LED light to record either 3D or 2D video and photos. These images play back in real 3D without glasses using the camera’s 2.4-inch LCD screen, or by utilizing 3D glasses on any 3D capable HDTV.

“As the popularity of pocket cameras grow, we not only wanted to provide simple, compact video and photo solutions, we wanted to make these devices fun and different while still delivering a high quality product,” Sony’s Andy Bubala said. “With Sony paving the way for 3D entertainment, that technology was the perfect addition to the Bloggie family and robust offering of 3D solutions.”

The Bloggie 3D uses the Exmor CMOS sensor to deliver high resolution video and crisply-detailed still photos with less grain, even in challenging lighting conditions, with Dual Record capabilities that enable still photo capture while shooting video. Its Auto Focus / Auto Macro function focuses sharply on objects as close as four inches away, while a 360 Video option provides panoramic imaging capabilities.

Sony says that the Bloggie 3D features SteadyShot image stabilization for smoother footage, Face Detection technology to enhance faces by automatically correcting focus and exposure, a built-in USB arm for easy charging and uploading to a computer, internal memory, built-in rechargeable battery, embedded Bloggie software, and HDMI output.

The included Bloggie software for Mac and Windows allows users to share videos and photos online, using Sony’s Personal Space service, or via integrated support for Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and Picasa Web Albums, among other options; including apps for the iPhone and Android-based mobile devices.

With all it has going for it, Sony’s Bloggie 3D has a place in your toolbox — and in your pocket.
