Grab HD on the Go, With Pivothead Camera Glasses

Pivothead (www.pivothead.com) is making a splash with its new camera eyewear, which promises to provide stylish and inconspicuous recording of 1080p HD video, along with still images (which can be captured while video is being recorded), via the camera’s 8MP Sony CMOS image sensor.

Its 75 degree field-of-view provides wide-angle viewing without “fish eye” distortion.

Crystal clear 44.1 kHz mono audio captured by the eyewear’s integrated microphone combines with multiple focusing modes (including auto, continuous, fixed and macro), plus various exposure and effect settings, to deliver surprisingly good results — with the flexibility and quality of h.264 MP4 output.

The device features a 2GB SDRAM for video processing, along with 8 GB of internal memory and a USB 2.0 connector for downloading photos and videos, and for recharging the glasses’ internal battery.

A choice of photochromic, polarized or Revo lenses, matched to ultra-lightweight, impact resistant frames; plus Mac, PC and iOS compatibility; round out the basic options.

For adult content producers, the device provides a decent quality POV alternative to more cumbersome systems, such as the popular GoPro HD Hero, which while waterproof and incredibly flexible in its mounting options, requires a helmet mount or awkward head or chest straps for a true point-of-view shoot — a rig which won’t go unnoticed in public, and which is almost impossible to hide on multi-camera shoots.

A GoPro can also distract models, while it bobs back and forth on a performer’s head, whereas a Pivothead is much less awkward and obtrusive for these adult applications.

Pivothead eyewear is now available for $349 in four models comprising 16 styles.

Another $100 will get you an Air Pivothead, which connects to the glasses; wirelessly streaming photos and video to WiFi enabled devices including iPhone, iPad, Android and other platforms; allowing users to dump data from their glasses, while providing a quick battery boost.
