Seasonal Storytelling

Offering timely and seasonal promotions on and for your site is an effective marketing tool. Recently I decided to use some of my original erotic stories to make promotional pages for my personal porn site. Being the Holiday Season, I decided to make a teaser ad from my popular “Twat the Night Before Christmas…”

Many XBiz readers will recall one of my previous Christmas specials; a holiday rhyme known as “Twat the Night Before Christmas…” This is a little fantasy from my old “Lady Jag” site about what happened the night that Santa Claus caught me masturbating... While I won’t reprint the story now, you can read it here.

It was a popular addition to my collection of original erotica, and I offered members a bonus broadband video series and exclusive photo set along with the poem text. That approach worked well and was appreciated for what it was, but as I am building a new site, I’m now looking for ways to repurpose some of my existing content - leveraging what I have in order to upgrade to what I want.

For this new project, I grabbed some elements from my ‘work in progress’ tour, along with the story, and some promotional materials from my AVS to drive sales with. I arranged everything into a simple layout, and posted it as a ‘thank you’ to my fans. The response has been great, providing fuel for thought about how similar projects might be a fun, traffic driving tool.

For instance, why not do ‘theme’ shoots - Bunnies for Easter, Patriotic for the 4th of July, be a Witch for Halloween - you get the picture! Do a video shoot, grab some still frames along with high-resolution digital images, and combine them with a suitable fantasy (or ‘real life’ sex story) and appropriate up-sell text, then depending on the layout, end up with TGP/MGP galleries, FPAs (Full Page Ads), tour pages, mailers, or all the above; unique and from the same shoot!

Even XBiz gets in on the act with special header banners on various holidays - a small touch that can make a big difference style wise, and that shows a degree of appreciation for, and kinship with, the target audience, building a stronger community.

Your efforts don’t have to be extremely ‘professional’ - simply being ‘real’ will sell, too! Here’s a screenshot showing the essence of the page I built for Christmas, and you can be sure others will be on the way, both for Christmas’ future, plus other holidays and special occasions:

Why don’t YOU try to incorporate seasonal and other special themes into your next shoot and marketing campaign - Valentine’s Day is coming, and THAT’s a Holiday that can be “worked.” Add your own interpretations to the thread below! Merry Christmas ~ Ayrora

How to Know When Hosting Upgrades Are Really Needed

I was reminded about an annoyingly common experience that often frustrates website owners: upgrades. Sometimes, an upgrade of physical system resources like CPU, RAM or storage really is required to solve a problem or improve performance… but how do you know you’re not just being upsold?

Natasha Inamorata was just a kid when she first picked up a disposable camera. She quickly became enamored with it and continued to shoot with whatever equipment she could afford. In her teens, she saved enough money to purchase a digital Canon ELPH, began taking portraits of her friends, shot an entire wedding on a point-and-shoot camera and edited the photos with Picnik.
