Q&A: Korina Kova Becomes Clip Artist Royalty

Q&A: Korina Kova Becomes Clip Artist Royalty

As exotic as her exotic dancer roots, Korina Kova radiates a bewitching aura in the elaborate clips for which she has gained notoriety.

And she flows in silky cosplaying threads with all the many-hued variety of the three bloodlines flowing through her marvelous physique, blending French, Irish and Métis (native Canadian) allure into a cocktail of sex.

I’m at the point in the development of my brand where it’s time to really network professionally, because I have aspirations to start my own full-fledged studio.

Among the greatest content creators to ever ascend the ManyVids ranks, where she reigns supreme as the No. 1 MV Girl with 16,000 followers on the platform and thousands upon thousands of views for her popular works (not to mention purchases), Kova has made a real name for herself.

Then, beyond her exquisite aesthetic, this sorceress hustles like few others, with an endless list of custom video orders that is refilled more often than bottomless mimosas. And so zealous are her fans that they don’t even demand exclusivity for the specialty orders they fund, instead enjoying her success when those scripted ideas are released to the public amidst major hype and sales.

Riding high on such a pedigree of solo porn creativity, Kova journeyed to XBIZ Miami this summer to deliver her unique wisdom on panels, amidst the hustle and bustle of the show. She then basked in the flashing cameras and the thunderous applause when she won the Best Female Clip Artist trophy at the 2019 XBIZ Cam Awards.

Press play now, and step behind the camera lens for this exclusive Clip Star of the Month interview, which transpired during her visit to L.A.

XBIZ: Take us back to the origins of your adult entertainment career.

Kova: I was an exotic dancer in Canada, where it’s more of a stage show with costumes, kind of like burlesque. And it was that showmanship that ultimately attracted me to the industry in general. I even took performance classes like circus training, where I learned how to do aerial silks and hoops.

I first got into camming on a few different platforms before testing the waters in clips, and it was prompted by the fact that I was taking care of a family member who was suffering from cancer and I needed to be able to work from home.

As I sought out that independence, so I wouldn’t have to perform at a location at night like with exotic dancing, my fans thankfully got on board right away. Eventually, my family member made a full recovery — not a full remission, but they’re living okay on their own now.

Bit by bit, my fans began funding my projects and allowed me to bring these amazing ideas to life! And basically everything you see online from me now originally started as a custom video order.

I don’t even have to give exclusives for the customs, because my fans actually get excited when I release their requested clip to everyone, as they watch the clip they wrote a script for become a top seller.

XBIZ: At what point did you realize you wanted to do clips full-time as your main revenue source?

Kova: The first couple months I began doing clips on ManyVids around the end of 2016 was a complete blur, because it was about survival. Even my webcam was blurry! But somehow, I climbed the ranks with those early clips, and by the time I got my first HD camera, the fan hype fueled me like a drug.

XBIZ: And once you were all set with an HD camera, how frequently were you publishing clips online?

Kova: I’m very consistently uploading content, because my custom list is — at this point — 20 orders long. I have 20 people waiting for their custom clips and even though I’m always filming, every time I cross a name off my list, another one comes on board. It’s non-stop! I can’t complain though, very grateful for it.

And ManyVids makes it so easy for them to reach out with custom requests, which makes it easy for me to make that connection as well. Sometimes, they will reach out to get to know me first and ask a few questions, but at this point, people are mainly ordering before they even touch base with me. I’ll see a new order come in with someone I haven’t spoken to before, which speaks to their trust in the quality.

XBIZ: Given such a hectic schedule, how do you balance work with a personal life?

Kova: I have no life at this point, haha. I take pride in my work and I’m super involved in it. To be honest, I’m living my personal life through work right now! Who needs balance?

It also helps that I have a really supportive family, even if kind of “don’t ask and don’t tell.” To be honest, my mom has even come to watch me dance before in solidarity, and it wasn’t even awkward!

I mean they always knew I was into exotic dancing, but I also don’t dabble in drugs and I rarely drink, so they trust my lifestyle and my ability to make responsible choices. I even bought a house recently and I’m just doing very well overall.

XBIZ: Between trips to Miami and Los Angeles, how often do you travel?

Kova: More often lately. I had my boobs done in Miami before XBIZ Miami, which motivated me to travel more. Other than that, I plan to travel more in the future.

I’m at the point in the development of my brand where it’s time to really network professionally, because I have aspirations to eventually start my own full-fledged studio. I mean, I’d kill to get on one of these L.A. porn sets just to take notes on their approach, because I find directors like Kayden Kross and Bree Mills so inspiring. I’d love to watch them work!

XBIZ: Let’s talk about your content, which is often more elaborate than the more typical fare that populates platforms. Not that more “mundane” content doesn’t sell incredibly well, but discuss your high production value clips.

Kova: It’s so crazy to me, because I don’t even identify with being a cosplayer. But given the popularity of it, that and taboo clips are my bestselling videos.

And I invest in clips big time, like I’ve put in up to $3,000 for costumes, locations and special effects. That’s why I’m very confident in my efforts to change the solo industry. I feel like I put all of myself into the intros and I love to tell a story.

When I cosplay as D.Va from the Overwatch video game, which is my No. 1 bestselling video, I made sure to add her signature self-destructing mech suit ability in the clip.

The next most popular one is my cosplay video of Katana from Mortal Kombat. I actually hired a stuntman to train and be able to do her moves, so I pulled off handstands and other moves outdoors.

This is what drives me. If it was just masturbating in my bedroom, I don’t think I’d have an interest in this career long-term.

XBIZ: Given your interest in high-end content, would you ever consider doing traditional studio-shot porn or boy/girl content?

Kova: The people who support me the most would be devastated if I did a boy/girl scene, so I’m not planning on doing traditional porn or making those kinds of clips.

It’s 100 percent a personal choice, and as much as I admire and respect all of the more traditional porn stars, I’m only willing to share as much of myself as I am right now. That being said, people ask me all the time about getting into “real porn,” which begs the question, am I a “porn star” right now? I don’t think so, but we’ll see where the industry goes down the road as clips and camming continue thriving.

XBIZ: On that note, tell us about your ambitions to create a porn studio of your own.

Kova: I will absolutely be doing that in the future. It’s a huge dream and I’m constantly upgrading. I mean, my current equipment list is aiming towards having the same kind of gear as the big production companies.

I’d be shooting on a much smaller scale, mind you, but I would love to see what Greg Lansky’s shooting with, I would love to see what Bree Mills’ scripts are like and I would love to see how Kayden Kross directs the action.

I do have a personal website, yet it does not do numbers like what ManyVids, OnlyFans and Modelhub do for me. Still, I want to eventually evolve into a more elaborate script-writer, producer and performer. I would fly talent out to Canada to bring in major star power and really push hard to become a respected studio.
