Why Wait for Anal? How Going All-Out Early Ignited My Career

Why Wait for Anal? How Going All-Out Early Ignited My Career

When you enter the mainstream porn industry as a woman, an issue that many of us (let’s be real, all of us) deal with is people attempting to capitalize off of our likeness in favor of us. Whether it be agents sending girls to shoots with companies or directors that are known to be bad news to make an agency fee, pressuring girls to work with people or do things they are uncomfortable with or the many other ways that this happens, it honestly sucks.

Most of us entered porn to feel empowered and have control over what we do with our bodies, as well as enjoy ourselves to the fullest. After all, what could be a better business to enter for someone who loves sex than to literally capitalize on our sex and sexuality? I can’t think of too many.

Porn comes with its pros and cons, like all industries do, and a major issue that many women — younger or older — face in porn is the concept of “waiting.” Those who’ve been around for years will tell you that it’s important to “wait” and “hold out” on doing certain types of scenes or sex acts for a variety of reasons. The main reasons are usually as follows:

“You’ll burn out too quickly if you do all these things at once!”

“People will get bored and stop watching you if the excitement of waiting is gone.”

“You want to hold out for the most money because companies will sometimes pay top dollar if these scenes are in high demand after a while.”

“You don’t want to label yourself as ‘too hardcore’ right off the bat.”

I’m here as a living example that these statements aren’t necessarily true and don’t take into account the different circumstances of people’s situations. I want to talk about why “waiting” is not always the best, or the only option.

People who know me from doing porn, whether it be fans or industry colleagues, would call me a lot of nicknames: “anal queen” or “gaper” come to mind. But I wasn’t always like that. When I was brand new in the industry, I had no idea that I would do anal or eventually be known as this “anal queen” type. It kind of fell into my lap.

When I first joined the industry, I had tons of people telling me all kinds of advice. But the main one was to wait, that waiting to do certain types of scenes was normal and a great way to increase your longevity in porn and keep people wanting more. It seemed perfectly logical at the time, but looking back now, there are holes in that logic.

People who are true fans of you will not get “bored” if you truly love what you are doing on camera, whether it be anal, DPs, gangbangs, BDSM or any other type of scene that women are not encouraged to perform straight out of the gate.

Some of the most iconic stars of all time started out doing hardcore scenes that many would say it’s better to “wait” to do. Some examples are Sasha Grey, Abella Danger and Adriana Chechik. If you have screen presence, you could sit on a couch and stare at the camera and people would tune in to watch it.

Basically, it’s not about “what” you are doing on camera, but rather how you are doing it! I didn’t plan to do an anal scene until one or two years into my career, at least. I was following the basic model that most agents will tell new performers to use. The longer you hold out on certain in-demand types of scenes, the more people will crave it and the more money you will make.

I understand why most people would think that makes the most sense, but it really only applies if a bigger payout for a single scene is your main goal. Which is totally fine, everyone has their personal preferences and reasons for entering the industry. Money is a perfectly good reason to enter any industry. But I’ll tell you a couple of reasons why that plan does not work for everyone:

Some people naturally gravitate towards certain types of scenes and content. Whether it be artcore, rough/hardcore, BDSM, fetish, etc. everyone has their place in the industry and some people excel at certain types of scenes more than others. If someone has a natural talent for anal, and enjoys doing it, what would be the point of waiting one to three years just to do their “first” anal scene?

In regards to the large payout argument, one could say that although waiting to do a certain type of scene and then receiving a huge check once you finally do it is satisfying, there is more money to be made in shooting a lot of those types of scenes, whether it be right off the bat or a few months in; the more you shoot, the more people you meet in the industry, the more connections you make and the better and more fruitful your career will be in the long run.

And then there’s a concept in mainstream porn called being “shot out,” with the idea being that if you shoot too much at once, especially one type of scene, fans/companies will become bored of your presence and stop wanting to see you perform that. I call BS on this. Like I said earlier, if you truly enjoy what you are doing on camera, it shows. It makes people want to watch your content more, rather than the opposite. Hardcore fans of porn appreciate those performers who truly dedicate themselves to the craft, and companies take note of that as well.

So, back to my story! I had only tried anal two times before, and I would say it was OK. I had no strong desire to perform it on camera anytime soon. But an opportunity fell into my lap and I decided to take it. I told myself that after I shot my first anal scene, if I didn’t enjoy it, I didn’t have to do another one for a long time, or ever if I decided. But I was shocked on April 30 in 2018, to find that after shooting my first anal with Mick Blue for the site Hard X, I truly loved how anal felt. It wasn’t difficult for me, as many people had said it would be. I found myself eager to do another anal scene, and after that, another. And another! My fan base began to grow and was made up primarily of anal fans, who appreciated how soon into my career I did an anal scene and noted my excitement to keep performing.

In my second scene, I gaped for the first time. I didn’t even know what that was. But gaping is a popular niche in the anal porn genre, and the more people took note of my ability to do it, the more I wanted to do more! There is something truly addicting about being able to please your fans in such a way that makes you want to keep going. Soon, I was shooting for Evil Angel, known as one of the more hardcore companies in porn. I shot an anal scene with Dredd for Jules Jordan, who is still the biggest dick I’ve taken in my ass today. At the time, I asked if I could do anal with him because I was on such a high from performing anal scenes, gaining popularity, and so happy that my anal skills were developing. After performing with Dredd, I gained a newfound confidence that has not gone away and probably never will. These are all things that I would not have been able to experience had I not taken a chance and performed an anal scene six months into my career.

I guess what I’m trying to say, summed up, is that everyone has a different path in the industry. There is not a one-size-fits-all business model for every performer. If there was, the industry would be pretty predictable and in my opinion, kind of boring. Girls trying new things and discovering a newfound love and talent for it is one of the best things to see in porn, for fans and industry peers alike.

Now, just over two years into my career, I have amassed a following of dedicated and loyal porn fans who don’t just like to watch me perform, but like me as a person! We have grown together as they’ve watched me come into my own and truly find myself in this industry. In my opinion, this wouldn’t have happened, or at least not as quickly as it has, had I not decided to take the chance and do an anal scene so soon. But it was truly the best decision I could’ve made for myself, and for my fan base.

I encourage girls who want to try a certain type of scene, but are scared because of hearing from agents, peers or porn fans that it’s “too soon” or that they’d get “shot out,” to take a chance on themselves and their happiness. You might be surprised by what happens!
