Ready to pack your bags, but wondering how to maintain your stream quality and keep regulars happy when you’re on the go? Life sometimes takes us unexpected places, but even when we do schedule and plan our travel with a meticulous itinerary, complications may arise if you plan your trip with the intention of “bringing along” your work.

DON’T SKIMP ON PREPARATION

Ask yourself first if this really should be a “working” trip. If you promise your fans a certain kind of show from an exotic locale and discover that the place you’re staying is not well equipped or other logistical hurdles arise, then you don’t want to let everyone down.

If you do decide you want to cam “on location,” then definitely take the time to familiarize yourself with the destination and make notes for yourself about how you will cam, because unfortunately, it’s not always as simple as just securing a wi-fi connection.

MAKE SURE IT’S LEGAL TO CAM AT YOUR DESTINATION

Some countries are very anti-porn and anti-sex work. But did you know that in certain parts of the world, cam platforms can be outright blocked? You might be surprised at what countries do this. In order to circumvent this, you’ll need a reliable VPN client, which often costs money to subscribe to. The last thing you need is a call from social services if your cranky toddler wanders into an adjoining room, and obviously children of any sort should neither be seen nor heard while you are streaming. Consider booking your hotel room on an adults-only floor or staying at an adults-only resort so there are no accidental intrusions.

BRING PORTABLE TECHNOLOGY

Technology can vary depending on where you are. Some hotels and Airbnbs, for instance, do not have high connection speeds conducive to streaming. If you anticipate any issues with stream quality, be sure to let fans and regulars know in advance.

If you want to try and ensure your own connectivity, you might bring your own remote modem. If you have room, you should also try to pack a GorillaPod-type tripod and a portable ring light too. No decent stream ever happened with poor lighting and bad angles.

Also: don’t forget to charge any batteries or battery-operated devices. If the electricity is different in the country you are visiting (for instance, if you travel from the U.S. to Europe), then don’t forget that universal adapter and travel plug. You can also order them cheaply online.

Moreover, if you’re flying, be sure to pack your technology and show props responsibly, as you neither want them to “get lost,” nor end up being detained on the suspicion that your modem or vibrator is some kind of bomb.

EMBRACE THE ADVENTURE

As we mentioned in the beginning, travel can bring about the unexpected, as well as ignite your creativity, so it’s really important overall to remain open and flexible. Don’t stress yourself into oblivion over what you have no control over. If you find yourself bogged down by technical issues or cannot safely cam at your destination, don’t push it.
