Q&A: Brielle Day Reigns as 2021 XBIZ Best Female Cam Model

Q&A: Brielle Day Reigns as 2021 XBIZ Best Female Cam Model

Growing up, Brielle Day was always drawn to entertainment, performing in everything from theater to choir and dance. While she loved ballet, hip-hop, tap and jazz, it was burlesque dancing that really brought out her inner choreographer — and exhibitionist — after she turned 18.

“I dabbled in burlesque for about a year before I started taking on more erotic gigs. Full nude performances, bachelor party entertainment, topless bartending, posing nude for art classes... the list goes on,” she said.

I have gone through quite a whirlwind of change since my early camming days.

Soon thereafter, a close friend recommended she check out camming, which led her to create a MyFreeCams account and give it a shot.

She was instantly hooked.

“My audience grew from a handful of people to hundreds… then thousands,” Day recalled. “I was addicted. Performing live in front of an audience made me feel alive, and having a way to do it without leaving my house was life-changing.

“I’ve never held a job that I felt more passionate about,” she continued. “I quit my vanilla job(s) in 2014 to pursue adult entertainment full-time and the rest is history.”

Now, she reigns as the 2021 XBIZ Best Female Cam Model, after winning one of the most competitive categories at the XBIZ Cam Awards, adult’s biggest for the indie talent community.

Thanks to her girl-next-door allure, strong work ethic and business-minded smarts, Day has cultivated an enthusiastic fan base and a positive reputation among her peers.

Take a journey through her burlesque dancing years, bear witness to her hard-won lessons and be regaled by her many camming triumphs, in this exclusive Cam Star of the Month interview.

XBIZ: In what ways have you grown over the years, career-wise and personally, since you began camming?

Day: I have gone through quite a whirlwind of change since my early camming days. When I first pushed that broadcast button in 2011, I remember putting my best sexy voice on and trying to exude as much sex appeal as I could. My persona was extremely x-rated, but I didn’t have much of a personality, because I didn’t think that mattered! It didn’t occur to me then that sex appeal was only part of being a great cam model.

A couple years later, I got bored doing the same old live shows and decided that I needed to become truer to myself and my personality, so I went towards the complete opposite of the spectrum and became a non-nude model, throwing it back to my burlesque days. It was difficult, let me tell you. Being fully clothed on an adult site can definitely bring out the trolls! My creativity was tested, but I was able to come up with interesting and fun shows that brought in viewers, and more importantly, that I actually enjoyed doing.

My focus became more on fostering a community and being a “virtual best friend” to my viewers, instead of focusing on pure sex. Each year after, I started becoming more in tune with my sexuality, my comfort levels and how I wanted to present myself to my fans... and to the world. The more comfortable I felt in my chatroom, the more risqué my shows became. And seeing the same members keep coming back to see me — members that made me feel loved, safe and appreciated — helped me branch out and attempt new things. I tried out new shows, outfits and content ideas, and each year, I found more and more of a following and thankfully stayed high in the ranks while experimenting with the Brielle Day brand. I was truly becoming who I set out to be years before. I was growing into my own skin.

As far as how I’ve changed personally, I now live by this quote: “The only opinion that matters is your own. Everything else is just advice.” It’s no secret that there is a stigma against those who work in the adult industry. For years, I was nervous about my real-life friends and family finding out and tried my hardest to keep my work and social media presence on the quiet side. But three years ago, I decided I wasn’t going to hide from the world anymore. I realized that I worked extremely hard to get where I was and I was proud of my accomplishments.

I finally revealed my true career path to my friends and family and felt relieved knowing that I didn’t have to be worried anymore about “being found out.” And to my surprise, most people were very positive and reassuring about my little secret! And those who weren’t... well, let’s just say I found out who my true friends were. I found out that I didn’t need outside approval to follow my dreams and passions. And now I am grateful to be out as a proud sex worker and able to firsthand-educate those I know on the adult industry and how we need to change the stigma surrounding it. I am happy to now be a voice for others who do not have the privilege to speak for themselves and to stand together with all sex workers, publicly, to fight for our rights.

XBIZ: How do you express your creative vision with your sense of fashion, visual content style, cam room decor and lighting?

Day: Generally, I would say my style is very fun, flirty and sensual. I love natural lighting, light makeup, big curly hair, flowy dresses with pretty lingerie underneath and creating very amateur clips (which sell the best for me) and wearing clothes straight out of my closet to give off the real girl-next-door feel.

My style, though, in all aspects, is constantly evolving. I have a wide range of looks from playful and cute to sexy and domineering and I love being able to dress based on my mood that day. I also have a large bin of backdrops, wall décor and curtains, as well as different lighting setups and colored lightbulbs for when I want to change the look and mood of my cam room.

And don’t get me started on makeup, wigs, jewelry and lingerie when I want to bring out my more fun side or try new looks for my fans; I have an entire room dedicated to wardrobe and accessories and multiple closets full of camming and filming gear (some brand new) that I can’t wait to get my hands on and put to work during the second half of this year.

XBIZ: What is your strategy for marketing on social media, in terms of planning ahead vs. spontaneity, and SFW vs. NSFW content?

Day: It’s obvious that many platforms do not like adult performers advertising themselves, so I like to keep my social media entirely SFW and try to follow each platform’s guidelines so I can keep my accounts in good standing. I otherwise keep all my NSFW content on my subscription and clip sites and prefer to leave something to the imagination on my public socials, so my followers are more driven to purchase my content or subscribe to my sites for “the good stuff.”

As far as planning versus being spontaneous, I love a mix of both! I am a huge planner and have multiple calendars that I work from day to day. My main posts that promote my work (like professional photos, clip site sales, new content teasers, custom video info, etc.) are all scheduled in advance and planned out, so I can make sure I keep on a consistent posting schedule. But, I also love to sprinkle in some random selfies, shower thoughts, polls and quotes to keep my fans engaged in other fun ways and keep my feed fresh.

XBIZ: Which camming platform is your favorite to stream on and why?

Day: The only camming platform I have ever streamed on regularly has been MyFreeCams. MFC is where it all started for me and has been my home base for almost a decade. I love the sense of community and the wonderful models and members who make the site what it is. I do, however, have plans to branch out and test new platforms soon and am in discussions to start a partnership with a newer camming platform in the near future. Stay tuned!

XBIZ: How do you balance premium and free OnlyFans feeds? Describe your strategy for monetizing subscriptions and DMs.

DAY: There are a ton of tips and tricks to making your OnlyFans pages work for you and engaging your fans. I highly recommend all OnlyFans creators join Telegram where they can network with other performers, learn from one another and help build each other up through promotions, advice and sharing ideas.

My free OnlyFans page is essentially another place where I post the same SFW photos/videos from my social media accounts as well as sell new content, advertise older videos, run sales and take custom video orders. I tend to update weekly but spend much more time on my premium page. My paid page, that you can subscribe to for $12.99/month, is all of the above and more, including: daily posting to my main feed and story, first access to my brand-new content, behind the scenes looks into the life of an adult entertainer, private messaging, discounts on content and more.

Both OnlyFans pages see my newest content first before I post to any of my clip sites or release publicly, and regularly have OnlyFans-exclusive content that you will not find anywhere else!

XBIZ: What other platforms are you on, and which seem to perform the best for you?

DAY: I am on a long list of platforms and am regularly branching out to new sites to really grow the “Brielle Day” brand. Currently, I live-stream on MyFreeCams; host clips stores on ManyVids, MFC Share, Modelhub, iWant- Clips and Clips4Sale; post free content regularly to PornHub; have public social media accounts on Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, Snapchat and TikTok; run subscription sites on OnlyFans, Pornhub and ManyVids; and have recently started a SextPanther account.

It may sound like a lot of work juggling all these sites, and it can be, but I started with just a few platforms in the beginning and added a few more each year, as my availability allowed for it. My goal is to try to be “everywhere” as much as I possibly can to continually get my name out there and grow my fanbase.

As far as what platforms have performed the best for me, that changes year to year. Camming on MyFreeCams has always been my main source of income, but I expanded to multiple clip sites last year, which has been amazing for passive income; and I’m currently loving OnlyFans! It is amazing how mainstream it has become and I love using the platform as a way to connect more personally with my fans than ever before.

XBIZ: Tell us a bit about your real-life hobbies and what you’re like when the cameras are off and you’re relaxing.

DAY: Being a cam model and content creator takes up most of my free time — this job has amazing perks, but no longer do I clock out at 5 p.m. … being an entrepreneur means working around the clock! I cannot complain though — and I don’t. I love every minute of this career.

Work has always been my first love, as strange as that may be, and I’m used to holding multiple jobs at once, so the long hours of this job suit me. With that said, you can usually find me filming or editing content, working on profile coding, marketing plans or new merchandise, or reading up on business and how-to books.

When I’m not working though, I love to watch movies, play video games, cook, go camping and hiking — anything in nature really — and just spend time with friends and family. The older I become, the more I realize that you need to spend time with those you love, so I try to every chance I get. I am also extremely passionate about helping others. I volunteer at events and raise money for causes as much as I can. I previously worked with and for nonprofits, and the spirit of giving and helping those less fortunate than myself is ingrained inside me.

XBIZ: What was it like winning Best Female Cam Model at the 2021 XBIZ Cam Awards?

DAY: Winning Best Female Cam model at this year’s XBIZ Cam Awards was a life-altering moment. I was in complete shock when I heard my name being called! I love this industry and have really focused on learning and growing the “Brielle Day” brand, as well as tried to be more involved in industry events and establish myself as a community leader over the last several years. Being recognized and nominated next to so many other truly incredible performers, let alone winning, has been such an amazing honor. Bringing home this award is definitely the highlight of my career thus far and I am so happy to be part of the XBIZ family!

XBIZ: Any big plans for the coming year or personal goals you’re excited about exploring?

DAY: One of my biggest goals for the second half of 2021 is to work on shooting more self-scripted content. Most of the content in my clip stores started as custom video orders and were fan directed; and don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love bringing another’s fantasy to light and putting my own spin on it, but it’s been years (since 2017 to be exact) that I focused on filming something completely out of my own idea book and I have a long list of clips I’ve been wanting to shoot!

Other than that, I am excited to continue to branch out to new live-streaming platforms (both NSFW and SFW), unveil my new website, celebrate a decade of being in the adult industry and get back to attending conventions and collaborating with other performers.

My plans and goals change pretty dramatically from year to year, and even month to month, but there is one thing that always remains the same: how thankful I am for the opportunities I have been given, the goals that I have reached thus far in my career and how lucky I feel to be able to have my dream job. I have some big plans coming up and all I have to say is — watch out world! I’m coming for you.
