WIA Profile: Tanya Tate

Award-winning MILF performer and Star Factory PR founder Tanya Tate has transformed the rich legacy of her own stardom into a multi-faceted business operation. When she isn’t creating content on OnlyFans or engaging with followers on SextPanther, she is helping others achieve their dreams by securing publicity and business opportunities for her clients. Among the stars that count on Tate and her support are top talent like Alexis Fawx, Britney Amber and Lexi Luna, to name a few.

Acclaimed across numerous publications and awards ceremonies, Tate prides herself on cultivating a positive reputation. Although she has stepped away from traditional studio shoots — partially due to the demands of motherhood — she still tirelessly advocates on behalf of talent, collaborates on indie scenes and even talks shop for her “MILFs Making Money” podcast. Tate also brings her geek cred to bear as a cosplayer extraordinaire, amassing a devoted fan base by fulfilling erotic fantasies steeped in comic book canon.

There is so much negativity out there ... I stay away from that and bring peace, gratitude and positivity to my life to focus on what is essential.

Now, Tate unveils her latest doings and gets candid about work/life balance, for this WIA Woman of the Month interview.

XBIZ: Discuss your biggest career milestones since entering the industry in 2008.

TATE: There have been a few. I’ve been quite fortunate in my career. Winning the XBIZ Award for MILF of the Year was one. I had a four-year streak of winning MILF Performer of the Year in my home country at TVX’s SHAFTA Awards. I directed a series of movies. And I think pivoting from a successful porn star to a successful content creator is the latest milestone.

XBIZ: Tell us about the process of transitioning from studio shoots to focusing more on your other business ventures.

TATE: It came naturally and by necessity. I stopped shooting for companies because of my pregnancy. Afterward, I didn’t want to rush back, and by that time, premium social media platforms had really taken off. So I concentrated on that for a couple of years, then COVID hit. That solidified my decision on how I would move forward. I am still willing to shoot for companies if the price is right, but the reality is I make more now in my pajamas at home with my iPhone than I did when I was booked solid and doing studio shoots.

XBIZ: How do you juggle the demands of parenthood with your job?

TATE: It’s tough. I have a nanny, so that alleviates some of the pressure. But it is a juggling act. Everything needs to be planned in advance, from my availability to the times when I can edit and the times when I do a photoshoot. It’s all about planning.

XBIZ: What kind of independent content do you produce and on which platform(s) primarily?

TATE: All my brand-new independent content is found on premium platforms SextPanther and OnlyFans. SextPanther is very instant. Everything comes straight to my iPhone so I can see and reply to the messages in real time, almost straight away. The fan can click a button and get to call or video chat with me instantaneously. On OnlyFans, the fan can slide into my DMs; this can take longer to get my attention as there is a lot more traffic; however those that spoil me the most get rewarded back. In both places I can send and receive pictures, videos and voice notes. The media can be something pre-made from my personal collection or custom, where the fan can direct the action with their scenario request.

I posted a poll on my OnlyFans wall and the most popular niche is the “mummy/son.” I am “Mummy Mistress” every day to many. I make mostly solo videos with plenty of talking and interaction. And I performed in my first GG movie after five years with my beautiful friend Phoenix Marie, exclusive for our platforms. I recently shot some clips with Julia Ann, which are being released ongoing for my fans that support my premium platforms.

XBIZ: Talk about Star Factory PR and a few recent client success stories.

TATE: Star Factory PR is my publicity company. Mike Moz and Alexander Raymond started it. I took it over when they both went to Digital Playground. We have assisted clients in getting Kiiroo toy deals, I got Lexi Luna her first mainstream acting gig and we helped Britney Amber get the XRCO Awards hosting duties. Those are just some of the recent projects. Alexis Fawx just won XBIZ MILF of the Year as well, so we are consistently working on relevant projects for our clients.

XBIZ: As a bona fide geek, who are some of your favorite characters at the moment when it comes to cosplaying?

TATE: I think fans appreciate the organic nature of my cosplay. I like dressing in the costumes of the characters I like, so I don’t do that many characters. The ones I cosplay are Julie Newmar Catwoman, She-Ra and Susan Storm. Some costumes may be a bit obscure, like the Cathy Lee Crosby Wonder Woman or Electra-Woman from the '70s, but I’d rather do characters I truly love.

XBIZ: How do you handle social media marketing for yourself and others?

TATE: It can be challenging to navigate, especially with the targeting and deletion of adult performers on various platforms. But we try to stay up to date on the terms and offer our clients the best advice on maximizing their engagement and staying within the platforms’ boundaries.

XBIZ: What has it been like navigating the pandemic from 2020 to now, in terms of challenges and opportunities?

TATE: We had to pivot. Hard. Things changed, and overnight we had to figure out new action plans. There were no new appearances and no new productions, so we lost a significant part of promotions. We had to be creative, reconstruct pitches, find other angles for interviews, etc.

XBIZ: Any unique hobbies or personal interests you’ve developed this past year?

TATE: I am focusing on myself and positivity. I talk a lot about it on my “MILFs Making Money” podcast. There is so much negativity out there. You see it in social media, in the news and on message boards. Negative people are like energy vampires; they will suck the life out of you if you let them. I stay away from that and bring peace, gratitude and positivity to my life to focus on what is essential. I keep generating revenue, keep my followers and fans engaged, create exciting content and raise the profile of my clients.

I have spent more time meditating, singing and reading. And I am a huge fan of Swarovski crystal figurines. I have a few display cases full of Disney ones. They are worth several thousands of dollars.

XBIZ: What are your goals for 2022 and beyond?

TATE: As Walt Disney said, “Keep moving forward,” and that’s what I plan to do!

How to Halt Hackers as Fraud Attacks Rise

For hackers, it’s often a game of trial and error. Bad actors will perform enumeration and account testing, repeating the same test on a system to look for vulnerabilities — and if you are not equipped with the proper tools, your merchant account could be the next target.

It's Time to Rock the Vote and Make Your Voice Heard

When I worked to defeat California’s Proposition 60 in 2016, our opposition campaign was outspent nearly 10 to 1. Nevertheless, our community came together and garnered enough support and awareness to defeat that harmful, misguided piece of proposed legislation — by more than a million votes.

Account-to-Account Payments: The New Banking Disruptor?

So much of our industry relies upon Visa and Mastercard to support consumer payments — and with that reliance comes increased scrutiny by both brands. From a compliance perspective, the bar keeps getting raised until it feels like we end up spending half our time making sure we are compliant rather than growing our business.
