Monetizing Your Physical Cam Room

Monetizing Your Physical Cam Room

I have been camming on Chaturbate for almost five years, and I have found that the secret to being a successful cam model is not just having a stellar cam show, but also having multiple diverse revenue streams. That’s why I’m always testing out new show ideas and different promotion opportunities. A few years ago, I started one that has worked well for me: my “Fall Wall.”

My Fall Wall is where my fans can purchase paper cutouts of leaves, hearts, pumpkins, or whatever I choose to do that year, with their name on it, and every cutout purchased is entered to win my fall contest. Then, at the end of the month, I pick three or four winners who receive a special prize package, including a custom video and access to my fan site. I have found that not only is this a great way for my fans to feel like they are part of my show, but it’s also an easy way to earn relatively passive income. Here are some tips to help you figure out whether a similar promotion might work for you…

Create a bigger prize package for the higher price tier, and make their names bigger on the wall so people can show off that they spent more.

SELECTING A SEASONAL OR HOLIDAY THEME

I choose to do a Fall Wall starting Sept. 2 and ending Nov. 28, as I find fall is a slower time of year and there aren’t that many holidays. However, you can create a wall during any holiday or season. I have seen cammers with pumpkin patches during Halloween, hearts around Valentine’s Day, ornaments on a Christmas tree around the holidays, Easter eggs during Easter and even balloons for a cammer’s birthday. Find a fun holiday and/or theme that you want to celebrate and create paper cutouts to match. Pro tip: make sure the cutout design you choose is something that is easy to make, to help save you time. I only do a wall contest once a year, so my fans don’t get burned out on the idea and save their tokens for it; however, you can do it as many times as you like and celebrate each holiday.

CHOOSING A PRICE TO ENTICE

Try choosing a price that your fans and cam room can afford, but still makes your wall contest worth the time and effort. Along with arranging prizes, you have to cut out the paper designs, so make sure you are getting paid for your time. For my Fall Wall, each cutout costs 143 tokens, since 1-4-3 matches the number of letters in each word of “I love you.” I find this is a good price for my room, and people who can spend more will just buy multiple cutouts. If you are unsure of what price is appropriate, test out two price points or tiers. Create a bigger prize package for the higher price tier, and make their names bigger on the wall so people can show off that they spent more. Tiered prices also allow more people in your room to participate.

OFFERING A WORTHWHILE PRIZE

It’s great to have a final prize for your wall so there is more incentive for fans to participate than just their name on your wall. I always choose a few different winners and offer a few different packages so more people have a chance to win. When creating your prizes, think about what you like to create, what you know you can do and what you have time for. If you dread making customs, don’t make your prizes custom videos. Some ideas are photo sets, physical gifts, cookies, care packages, underwear, Polaroids … you name it. Get creative and make it fun for both you and your fans. For instance, my Fall Wall prizes for this year consisted of:

1st Place: A 10-to-15-minute full-length custom video with my HD camera. The winner picks everything from the script to the lighting, outfit and makeup, and also receives a full year of my fan site for free.

2nd Place: A five-minute custom video shot on my phone, plus a full year of my fan site for free.

3rd Place: A five-minute custom video shot on my phone, plus six months of my fan site for free.

HANDLING THE PROMOTION

Before you kick off your wall contest, make sure to start promoting it a few weeks ahead of time in your cam room and on social media so fans know what to expect and can anticipate buying a cutout. I also recommend floating the idea by your fans beforehand to find out what kind of prizes they would want. Don’t be afraid to talk with your room about your cam room ideas; camming is all about community and involving your community in planning just makes them feel that much more invested and included.

Once you are running your wall contest, make sure to include the price and prizes on your tip menu and cam room bio so newcomers know about it. Once your contest starts, having a bunch of names already behind you will naturally help with promotion and people will want to see their names up there as well.

When a user buys a cutout, I try to make it a big deal and, if it’s slow, I will cut out their desired shape on cam and get them involved in the process of making it. I’ll ask them what color they want their cutout and name to be and where it should go on the wall. Giving them this type of attention not only makes them feel special but will also encourage others in the room to tip for a cutout.

THE BENEFITS OF MONETIZING YOUR PHYSICAL ROOM

By providing passive income, my Fall Wall helps me reach my goals faster without having to do much. Fans love the notoriety of having their name on my wall during a show as it gives them an opportunity to show their dedication. Not only is their name on the wall, but I include it in any customs, photo sets or content I shoot.

If you are having a slow day, sit on cam and start cutting out your shapes and talk to your room about what type of custom they might like to order if they win. If you are also looking for new ways to decorate your room, having your fans pay for it is perfect. I have found that selling decor for your room is a great way to increase engagement. Just remember to get creative and think about how you can best utilize your space, engage your fans and maximize the return on your time.
