Kazumi: Fast-Rising Indie Creator Discusses Carnal Creativity Ambitions

Kazumi: Fast-Rising Indie Creator Discusses Carnal Creativity Ambitions

If today’s revenue-generating premium social media opportunities can be summed up in two words, those words would be “sexy math.” Once fans are locked in through consistent output, be it prolific eye candy or drip-feed morsels with enticing pay-per-view DMs offering the real video meat, the gravy train hits the tracks.

Kazumi loves that gravy.

Personally, I’ve learned the value of problem-solving. I have no agent.

She also loves sex with a great many people, as much for fun as for business. That’s why she’s the gains-makin’ train conductor, taking viewers and bon vivant collaborators down the high-speed rail-me-zaddy, run-a-train-on-me railway, setting off sparks with electric conductivity.

Kazumi has all the hallmarks of a modern-day, multifaceted, content-creating hustle-and-hype master. At the same time, she strives to be eminently authentic, with an endearing humility that belies her real-life booming bank account. Where others might let fame go to their heads with nose-in-the-air vainglory, she hunkers down for the nose-to-the-grindstone grind.

With nearly a million followers across Twitter and Instagram, 320,000 OnlyFans likes and 26,000 subscribers plus an XBIZ nomination already catching the wind like a feather in her cap, Kazumi need not even set foot on a traditional porn set to keep this locomotive barreling ahead full steam. Then again, given the high production values of her scenes, drawing mega co-stars like Angela White to her center of gravity with polished-yet-raw content, she exemplifies the self-contained “studio of one” that blurs lines today.

In this exclusive interview, Kazumi opens up about her philosophy, aspirations and hopes for the future.

XBIZ: What first inspired you to venture into the adult biz?

KAZUMI: I was already fucking in sex clubs for free! I’ve been in the kink lifestyle since I was 19 and would regularly get fucked in front of a bunch of strangers jacking off for fun. Exhibition is my deepest kink, and for most of my professional career I’ve been a marketer. During COVID, I combined my two passions.

XBIZ: How have you grown, personally and professionally, since joining the biz?

KAZUMI: Personally, I’ve learned the value of problem-solving. I have no agent. I have no contract. I have no management. I’m a firm believer that you can figure it out yourself, but that’s involved me taking a lot of risks and ultimately, a lot of losses, as I have to do trial and error. I started with no following and have never even shot on a professional porn set yet. I’m proof that you can be just as successful independently.

XBIZ: What are your main revenue streams and how do you stay on top of everything?

KAZUMI: My main revenue stream is my OnlyFans, and second to that is my Fansly. I have an amazing financial advisor and a CPA who have helped create a really stable financial plan for me. My partner, who I’m in a polyamorous relationship with, also does financial management!

XBIZ: Who are you close with in the industry? Who do you look up to?

KAZUMI: I’m close to a lot of the Asian creators because I feel like we’re in the same boat — Nicole Doshi, Emma Magnolia, Nekomiiya. I’m a lot closer to OnlyFans girls than porn girls, though, because that’s obviously my niche. I look up to Asa Akira because she was totally in charge of my sexual awakening as an Asian woman.

XBIZ: Discuss a few of your favorite creative collabs this year.

KAZUMI: I have a pretty epic scene with Anton Harden, Nicole Doshi and Marica Hase. I also have a great scene with Isiah Maxwell, Ryan Reid and Lena Paul. But my favorite so far is my scene with Angela White and Johnny Sins. Fuck, I still masturbate to that one!

XBIZ: How do you cultivate fan engagement on social media in terms of the content you post and direct interactions?

KAZUMI: I don’t take myself too seriously, and I know how to laugh at myself. Making memes out of myself, and my various podcasts, have been super instrumental in giving my fans a glimpse into me and knowing I’m an approachable girl. They see my personality and I love to take my time replying to funny comments, creating loyal fans and hopefully long-term friends!

XBIZ: Share your marketing strategies for monetizing content on OnlyFans where you have a substantial following.

KAZUMI: Everything is a low acquisition cost via a cheap subscription and cheap PPV costs. Everything is affordable, consistent and good quality. Honestly though, the content isn’t as important as how good you are at marketing and promoting yourself. I feel like a lot of girls get negged out and think they have to be hardcore or super-duper hot to make money on OnlyFans, but the reality is that it’s all in the enthusiasm and captions.

I’ve seen girls make a lot of money with just one tit pic, and it’s because they’ve shown how that’s valuable, either through scarcity or fear of loss. I’ve seen girls that aren’t super conventionally attractive or never completely show their face make six figures a month because they’re great at relating with their audience and building an amazing fantasy. If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me!

XBIZ: What do you do for fun when not working?

KAZUMI: I’m a sexual deviant. I love going to sex clubs and fucking more. Lately I’ve been loving to travel and eat different foods and enjoy different cultures. I love to die deliciously. I feel like going to sex parties and seeing different types of people getting admired and fucked has made me feel really comfortable with aging and living my life. I’m not worried about carbs catching up to me or any of that. I’ll try anything twice and I want to experience as much as possible!

I feel like a lot of people get caught up in sticking with what makes them comfortable or cool, but I like to understand people and get outside my comfort zone. I recently went to a furry convention and learning more about that was awesome! I used to go to random kink events by myself; I wanted to figure out what I liked. So I’ve made some really interesting friends in really interesting places.

I’ve worked at a Japanese-themed maid cafe, I love to go to gangbang parties and I like to throw mixers. I’ve recently started a YouTube channel and have been having fun organizing skits and events for it. I like to understand and learn and live. That’s what’s fun for me!

XBIZ: How do you pursue a healthy lifestyle mentally and physically?

KAZUMI: I work out every day I’m not traveling, and I have a great work-life balance! I’m very extroverted, so being around people actually gives me great energy. I create my own schedule and honestly vacation a lot. I’ll work the whole month, and then usually am out of town during my period, haha. When I do work, I would say I overbook myself, but I love being busy. Working towards a goal is great for my mental health, especially since it’s so social and fun.

XBIZ: Any major ambitions you’re pursuing in the coming months?

KAZUMI: I want to become a household name. I want to be so baked into the public mindset that you guys never forget me. I’m building my YouTube, working on memes and saying yes to every opportunity to be in your fucking face. It’s not about the money anymore, it’s about sending a message: Why can’t sluts change the world?
