Stag Shop Set to Debut VOD Site

CAMBRIDGE, Ontario — Beginning Thursday, brick-and-mortar retailer Stag Shop will enter the video on demand market with content provided by HotMovies.com. Customers of the Stag Shop will be able to purchase the latest adult content from the comfort of their homes.

The company launched StagShopVOD.com.com to complement its recently redesigned retail site.

Now in a soft-launch phase, StagShopVOD.com offers the complete content library being offered on HotMovies.com and joins HotMovies.com’s customizable VOD affiliate program, MovieDollars.com. Hot Movies recently announced its library has reached more than 40,000 unique titles.

Stag Shop’s VOD site will feature the latest adult movies on a pay-as-you-go platform. There are no membership costs or recurring fees to access movies through StagShopVOD.com.

“The customers who come in to our stores and the customers who buy VOD are two different types [of consumers],” Stag Shop’s DVD Manager Lee Mattina told XBIZ. “We’re always looking to offer more products and services to our customers to stand out from the competition because there is so much opportunity for them to spend their dollars elsewhere.”

Mattina said after the initial launch of the site and analyzing buyer trends, Stag Shop will customize its content offerings and featured DVDs.

“In offering this video-on-demand service to our customers, we’ve been able to customize our DVD product offerings specifically for Stag Shop customers according to their DVD interests and needs,” Mattina said. “In this sense, Stag Shop customers can enjoy their own private custom theater in the privacy of their homes instantly without making a commitment.”

Started in 1972 in southwestern Ontario, Stag Shop now operates 16 retail outlets in Canada.
