Italy’s czar over the Internet, broadcast and cable, Paolo Gentiloni, said the new rules will go into effect within 60 days.
“We have been working four or five months on this decree,” Gentiloni said. “We can neither cross out possibilities created by the network nor build the Great Wall of China [for the Internet].”
Internet service providers in March will have to equip themselves with systems able to shut down, within six hours of being notified, any sites which show, distribute or do business dealing with child porn images, Gentiloni said.
