The deal, according to Ramco’s Chris Spoto, not only expands the company’s reach, but also its belief that it takes a very special type of individual to deal with “Clown Porn.”
“One of the coolest things about the deal was that [Old Pueblo President] Arnold Stein approached us,” Spoto told XBiz. “He was really interested in the film and displayed a lot of enthusiasm about it.”
Stein’s interest in the film was very attractive to Spoto, who told XBiz earlier that Ramco looked for a very special type of person when searching for the actors and workers on “Clown Porn.”
“We were really looking for characters – for people who just got the concept,” Spoto said.
According to Spoto, Old Pueblo hits that mark.
“At Ramco Productions, we find it easy to work with people like Arnold at OP because he is positive and easy-going, just like ourselves,” Spoto said. “For a well-established company like Old Pueblo, that can pick and choose who they represent, to approach an industry newcomer with one title is a testament to their forward thinking.”
Previously, “Clown Porn” DVDs were available only by ordering them off the Ramco website.
Ramco’s film, introduced at AEE in Las Vegas, has continued to gain in popularity, Spoto said, with DVD sales on the Ramco website exceeding the company’s expectations and the film’s two stars, Jenna Brooks and Hollie Stevens, appearing on Howard Stern’s “Stupid Bowl.” Brooks won the $5,000 first prize in the Stern show contest.
“Howard Stern panned us pretty good,” Spoto said. “He obviously doesn’t like clowns very much, and we have received some hate mail as well, but the movie is much more than just folks dressed up like clowns [having sex]. There is an overriding comedic theme throughout the film, and we hope viewers give it a chance on the level as a comedy as well as a porn.”
The second film in the series, titled “Clown Porn Crime Watch,” is currently in production.
“It’s a spoof on old police movies and television shows – except with clowns having sex and everything,” Spoto said.
Ramco’s second film will feature many of the actors that took part in the first film, Spoto said, including Dave Pounder. No date has been set for the new film’s debut yet.
Old Pueblo’s distribution of “Clown Porn” has a street date of March 1.
