Suspect in Zoey Zane Murder Captured

EL DORADO, Kan. — The primary suspect in the murder of college student and amateur solo-girl website performer Emily Sander, aka Zoey Zane, has been arrested.

According to U.S. Deputy Marshal Logan Kline, 24-year-old Israel Mireles was arrested in Melchor Muzquiz, Mexico, where he is being held pending extradition to the U.S.

Sander, an 18-year-old student from Butler Community College, was last seen leaving a local bar with Mireles, a man she reportedly met that night. Her car was found parked at the bar.

A search for Sander intensified after management of the El Dorado motel, where Mireles had been living, reported to police that the room was in shambles and splattered with blood.

Sander's body was later discovered 50 miles east of El Dorado, along U.S. Highway 54.

Mireles was reported to be traveling with his 16-year-old girlfriend, Victoria Martens, in a Ford Taurus rental car, which was found in Vernon, Texas.

A notice on Zane’s website states that “Israel Mireles is in custody and behind bars on homicide charges, suspected in the death of 18-year-old Emily Sander."

Authorities said Victoria Martens is safe, but will not elaborate until a news conference later today.
