“Summer School Sex Kittens” stars Brittney Skye and Olivia Saint and was shot last summer. Holliday died in late 2004. Holliday is most associated with VCA, and that company’s Vice President of Marketing Peter Reynolds told XBiz that Holliday’s final film has “tons of extras.”
“Sex Kittens” was filmed in the Mojave Desert with more than a dozen cast members, including Katy Gold, Felicia, Samantha Slater and Shayla Laveaux.
A heavy smoker, Holliday knew he was ill when he was filming but, as VCA Sales representative David Diamond said, “I think we all knew that he wasn't himself and he may have known that also, but I don't think that he was aware that this was going to be his last film.”
Holliday wrapped production in the early autumn and grew progressively sicker. Even during filming, he shot in the mornings and then after the sun went down as the day grew cooler. His December heart attack was not a surprise. “He was in poor health and overweight,” Reynolds said.
Regardless, “Sex Kittens” is entirely a Jim Holliday movie, Reynolds and Diamond said. It was not completed posthumously. The extra footage includes two hours of behind-the-scenes coverage as well as examples of the director’s often-oblique Hollywood film references.
“He was a walking, talking encyclopedia of film,” Reynolds said, noting that he "had an insane knowledge of adult trivia.”
For what would become his last time behind the camera, Holliday felt fortunate to be shooting three of his “angels” – Gold, Felicia and Laveaux for the film.
Diamond said that the release of “Sex Kittens” this week would truly be the final Holliday material from VCA. There will not be a string of posthumous titles, he maintained. Though Reynolds said that Holliday always “over-shot,” meaning he got more footage than he needed, that extra footage is in “Sex Kittens.”
