The newly-created Copyright Claims Board, a “small claims court” for copyright disputes under $30,000 that has been denounced by digital rights advocates as a “disastrous” innovation, has officially begun accepting cases for review.
There will soon be a new tribunal in town in which to pursue copyright claims. As part of the omnibus spending bill, passed in late 2020, the federal government included the Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act (CASE Act).
